Climate Action Plan Update

Background: City of La Mesa Climate Action Plan

The City of La Mesa adopted the Climate Action Plan (CAP) in March 2018, affirming its commitment to environmental sustainability. The CAP establishes a long-range roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the categories of energy, transportation, solid waste, water, and green infrastructure.  It guides which implementation activities the City prioritizes in order to mitigate the effects of climate change, supporting La Mesa's vision of a safe, healthy community. Visit the Climate Action Plan webpage for a more detailed overview of La Mesa's CAP.

Climate Action Plan Update

As specified by the current Climate Action Plan, the City will amend the CAP 5 years after adoption to adjust targets and re-evaluate priorities. A key component of the CAP update is community input. The City is seeking feedback from residents on actions the City can implement to reduce community-wide greenhouse gas emissions. To facilitate these discussions, the City is hosting a series of three workshops to provide a platform for residents to contribute ideas and feedback for future priorities and programming.

Community Open House: Climate Action Plan Update

The City of La Mesa is conducting an update to the Climate Action Plan (CAP) and is seeking resident and community input on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Helix Charter High School – Library at 4200 Lowell Street.  This is the second of three community workshops at which we’ll dive into draft changes to CAP targets, measures, and actions.   Participants will also be able to provide input on implementation activities and priorities for CAP programs and projects.  Together, we’ll explore the many different ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Please come share your ideas and learn how you can stay involved!  For additional information contact the Environmental Services Division at envirosvcs@cityoflamesa.us or 619.667.1166
