As the City of La Mesa continues to work on a year-long effort to develop a Recreation and Parks Master Plan aimed at enhancing our community's parks and recreation programs, we are hosting a series of community workshops. This recording is from the third workshop, held on Sept. 13, 2023. It offers insights from community surveys, previous meetings, and program analysis, allowing you to provide valuable input on program and infrastructure priorities.
Ten stakeholder focus groups were held with community partners, program participants, City Council Members, and staff between May - July 2023 to gather additional input.
Two community workshops were held on April 20 and 26, 2023 to take input regarding needs and recommendations for new parks and facilities, park improvements, and program needs.
A statistically valid community survey was conducted February - March 2023.
In 2012, the City of La Mesa developed a Parks Master Plan to identify improvements to the parks system necessary to meet community needs for parks, open space, and urban respite areas. This 2012 plan is being updated in 2023 to include recommendations for recreation programs and parks for current and future needs.
The project goal is to create a long-term plan for updating and upgrading city parks and bringing opportunities for recreation programs for all ages.
